| Workforce Plan Overview | ||||
|
"To maintain a quality workforce now and in the future, South Carolina state government must anticipate the workplace challenges of the future, provide work environments that attract and retain the best workers, and make the best use of our valuable human resources. Achieving these goals requires that we undertake a process called workforce planning -- a process by which an organization's future human resources needs are assessed so that a strategic plan for workforce development can be constructed." These words are used to introduce the Agency Data Resources Toolkit, a document prepared by the Office of Human Resources as a reference source for agencies of South Carolina state government. Workforce planning as a concept has been in practice in one form or another for many years. Our recent efforts have been directed towards a consolidation of those efforts from a central state government perspective, and a environmental scan of the past, present, and future perspectives of state government employment. Workforce planning is not a project to be completed. It is a never-ending series of examinations of, and responses to the circumstances that affect the workforce. The links that we have provided here will be constantly updated as we strive to be better prepared for the employment challenges that confront us, both now and in the years to come.
