    A: The deputy directors are appointed by the agency head.

    Q: Do deputy directors of restructured agencies have grievance rights?

    A: Deputy directors of restructured agencies are exempt from the State
    Employee Grievance Procedure Act. They serve at the will and pleasure of the
    director.

    Q: Is a restructured agency required to post the vacancy of a deputy
    director position?


    A: Deputy Director positions are not required to be posted since they
    are appointed positions for which recruitment is not normally undertaken;
    however, an agency may post the vacancy to generate a pool of applicants for
    the position.
